I was browsing one of our sponsor's excellent selection of fine tonewoods, when I noticed a BRW set ON SALE for $21,900. This does not appear to be a misprint. Granted, it is a fine piece of wood, but does anyone else think this is perhaps just a little overpriced?
It is probably just me...........

Well, I wouldn't pay a dime over $21,500 for that wood...OR, I'd pay full price but demand a set of plain mahogany, or something similar, be thrown in as a bonus. Or, insist on free shipping.

I mean, there's some wiggle room on that set, has to be.

Bill

PS: The puking in the showroom is BRILLIANT. I've got to remember that.

Better yet, puke in the car right after the test drive. That should bring the price down and they will clean it for you to boot

The one thing about this question is this......the car will immediatly depreciate in value where as the wood........?

I'd buy 250 sets of Indian Rosewood instead.

But out of curiosity, what supplier is it?

What? $21.9K wasn't enough? So Hesh bids it up over $30K? Worried about "other bidders", eh Hesh?

As W. C. Field wryly stated: "You can't cheat an honest man; never give a sucker an even break".

Hesh, you've been in that "clean room" shop TOO LONG! You need to get out and sniff the lacquer.

As for the Prius, puke IN it!

Being an old Econ major, I just had to do the math. EPA says a Prius will cost $911 in fuel for a year. A Honda Civic will cost $1449 in fuel. The Prius carries a $6890 price bump to the Civic. With the gas savings, it will only take someone 12.8 YEARS to break even. And that doesn't count the inevitable battery pack replacement cost for the Prius.
Buy the rosewood!

I understand that because of the battery manufacturing, recycling, and replacement at least once in 100,000 miles, maybe twice, the Hummer, H3 has a smaller "carbon footprint" than the Prius.

PRECISELY....

And consider, also, the rising cost of tortillas due to so much corn being "re-directed" into methanol production for E-85, etc. What will my guacamole and salsa do????

But I digress.....

Now back to the original intent of this forum...BUILDING GUITARS!

Personally I would go for the Prius, puke in the showroom and be obnoxious until they cut me a better deal, and then use the savings to buy a less expensive set of BRW....
Now Hesh, about your payment for the wood.

I'm sending my nephew over to collect this afternoon, for um, security reasons...we wouldn't want your money to get stolen or anything, right? My nephew Mikey (we all call him "Tank") is a nice boy, but he spends too much time in the gym if you ask me. You'll like him, but don't mention anything to him about the way he talks. He's really sensitive about that and will sometimes just go off and start breaking things. Anything, actually.

Hesh:

I have it on fairly good authority that the brazilian rosewood you are purchasing was originally part of interior dining hall facia from the home of the Archbishop of Canterbury, spirited away from his possession in 1403 by Thomas Fitzalan, 12th Earl of Arundel. The piece has quite a bit of history.

So there's a very good chance you'll get your money back on this. Glad I could help.

Bill
