O.K. well maybe divers too.
This is a special piece that was actually done as a commemoration/memorial of sorts for the clients brother who passed away years ago. "Jewels of the Pacific"- with an Atlantic friend.. I can't help but think of Paul B's butterfly piece he did some time back thinking how special that is to do a piece for someone like that. I never would think he opportunity would arise using marine fish, but here they are. The brother used to own many aquariums, and his favorite fish he would always show off was his puffer.
The puffer sits in the middle, with some other typical aquarium fishes all around him. They are (from left to right) flame angel, clown trigger, porcupine puffer, powder blue tang, yellow tang.
This piece was made a little challenging because it was done on a finished Bourgois that had the frets pulled. I slotted everyone up so it's ready for frets.

Next up is something different (for me anyway) Give it two weeks..
Thanks for looking in as always. What good is a visual art like inlay if it isn't seen?

Craig L

Yeah, nice fishies as usual, but can you do a vine, or a torch, or....?

Great work Craig. I wish I could do that stuff.

Enough fish for a while.
The next three to four aren't fish (O.K. well one is a mermaid, sorry) My next one is nothing near a fish!
I wish someone would order a fancy vine from me just one time so I can show people I can do one. It's kind of like "your not really good at inlay unless you do a fancy vine"
So bring it on.. I don't do these for myself. These are all taken. So unless one of you wants a vine odds are your not going to see one from me. My order log is open...

Thanks everyone for looking at my never ending run of fish.... NO really- I DO mean it!!

Craig

That reminds me, does anyone want to talk about the merits of Fish Glue?

Never mind!  Sorry!

Craig, I for one don't tire of seeing your fishies. They're fantastic!

Craig,

I just had to pop in and say that is really some beautiful work!

Do you want to do a vine so desperately that I can just send you a fingerboard blank and get a complimentary vine? I'm willing if you are! I'll even draw one up that will impress vine-loving botanists.

Dennis

But I think part of doing a vine is doing the art one's self, so the curves and details show your ability to draw as well.
I am going to plan out a vine. I will then offer it to all the OLF'ers at a good and fair price, and if there are any takers you'll see my first vine- how does that sound?

Craig

Bring it on, baby...let's see the draft.      The fish are exquisite by the way. Amazing, truly amazing artistry.

I'm going to design a special OLF "vine", and headsock.
Odds are it will be crazy complicated so if anyone is really interested in a seriouse price point they should let me know in a PM.
Oh- there is a slight chance that it's not going to be all that traditional. I have an idea already, but I don't want to turn anyone off! That said, I have about four art designs already drawn up that have no owners. They are all in the $1000.00 and up a little range, if anyone wants to see available art please let me know. I normally don't have many up for grabs sitting here.

One is all gamefish and angling theme, called "tight lines" the other is a crazy complicated reef, and there may be one more siting around.
See you all in a week and a half!

Craig
