I'd love to see the Bear come out of hibernation. That would make my year a little more "bearable".

If your looking Serge my Friend, your missed

Serge, I just found out I'm an Armenian Calvinist with a split personality. Sometimes I'm happy as a clam, other times I'm worried I might not make it.

I miss him too, and don't entirely agree with his reason for leaving, but
you've got to admire the integrity. I don't think compromise is a dirty
word, but I admire his time away. St. Augustine wrote, "The foot of the
soul is love, for it moves by means of love to the place it is going." He's
out walking, and I can appreciate that.

Well I'm sorry to say that I jumped the gun big time.

I'm sorry to all of you for having posted that picture and to have given a false sense of hope that Serge would be returning. I'm sorry.

I got a long email from Serge and while I could just paraphrase it for you all, I figure I will just post it here.

I haven't looked much on the OLF for a couple of months now, i know that my bros and sis remember me and i'm glad to hear that, it's just that it is painful for me to read and not participate, i made that promess to the Lord that i would not belong to a place where i can't openly pronounce His Holy Name. I just checked the thread you mentionned and i came that close to reply and say hi to everyone but that alone would have been enough to break my promiss to Him and would not want to give false hopes to my dearest friends at the OLF, believe me, i hurt not to be able to post but it was my word to God and i'm keepin' it for His Name's sake. You know what bro, please say to the brethren that i too, miss you all a whole lot more than you all think and i still pray that there would be a way for me to come back with the Lord at the OLF.

I'm proud to call Serge my friend and I can only hope that any of the convictions in my own life are held in such high regard as his. I may not agree or understand completely, but I certainly respect him.

The OLF is a fair land, flowing with milk and honey and a grumpy luthier or two. We miss you buddy.
Rod buddy you have nothing to be sorry about. Without hope we are only bags of mostly water.......

Ya know I heard something a while back and that was that a site had been created by our hosts, with Serge in mind, where expressions of faith were permitted. This is a guitar building forum and I heard that Serge had joined. I went there and even though Serge had joined no one had posted for a very long time. I was going to register and maybe did just so I could participate with Serge again and still participate here as well.

The problem as I see it is that no one heard about this site so no one ever joined. Lance and/or Brock is the site still up and could we have a URL please since I can't find mine?

Rod we could contact Serge and let him know that some of his buds will be there to meet him. What do you think?

And BTW if you guys (our hosts) did create this site as a possible solution to when Serge left my hat is off to ya - that was a very fine thing to do!!!
I was part of that membership and for the first month it looked like it might go, but it went for months without anyone posting. The last couple of times I checked it, it was gone. Not enough traffic to justify the cost, I suppose, which was extra for the boss to pay. That's my understanding. Unless they relocated and didn't tell me.

Ron

I miss Serge the bear also, and I to admire his conviction, even if I do think it pointless.

I am sure that every-ones God is the best, and I am sure that everyones God knows true believers to be true, and I am sure that everyones God is aware his creations are not without fault, and I am sure that everyones God understands he can be and he can love even in those places where God is not uttered, and I am sure that every-ones God understands that with so many of his imperfect creations consumed by so many imperfect beliefs that sometimes it's just better that way in pursuit of peace and harmony.

For Gods sake, peace to all and with so much trouble in the world, may no one divide themselves from those extending a hand in friendship.

It's OK Serge, I suspect that your God knows more of you and your conviction than you give him credit for, you have nothing to prove, and only yourself to fear.

Cheers

Kim

Sorry... I just read this...

You are in fact correct Lance did lead the charge on a new board whose intent was to combine faith and lutherie. However, as we discoved, such places seem to become a lightening rod for porn and other internet malfeasence. So for now at least this is not going to happen.
