I thought some of you might like to see some WA Sheoak that has the distinctive lace figure. Not to be confused with other Lacewoods. The colour and figure is quite dazzling. Anyway here are the images for your consumption.

It's amazing how some woods seems to look like moving water in certain lights...the second picture looks like the light of water refracting against a wall!!

Any ideas on how much shipping is to get a set of back and sides to the US is? (and how long it takes?)

That is truely some unique and beautiful wood!

This West Aussie stuff has been well used in guitar building and a proven winner as a tonewood. It is very stable, bends well and makes a great sounding guitar. As you can see, this lot looks just beautiful. (I will be up soon Tim )

Tis a pity that WA Sheoak gets tied in with other species such as silky oak and that temperamental African lacewood stuff that flooded the US market a while back and, I believe, has steered people away from giving WA Sheoak a go. There is nothing at all in common between the two, chalk and cheese, and quite literally, they are worlds apart.

Hi Ken,

These sets will be available in about 2 months depending on drying factors. I am happy to reserve sets for anyone who can wait for a while. That being said I do have some other sets that are similar and ready to go.

Shipping to the US is subsidised by me at $45USD. WA Sheoak Lace sets will be held at $135 until the end of next week. Delivery to the US is 3 - 7 days and can be tracked.

OK, Tim, I surrender. This material is a couple of notches past gorgeous! I'll PM you and arrange payment. If Kim is going to be paying you a visit soon, please allow him to help you pick a set for me. Kim and I have spent some time figuring out each others aesthetic. (If these sets are all from the same billets, then Kim's eyes may not modify your choice - though if that's the case, don't be surprised if Kim and I end up with sister sets!)

Now I just need to find some Yowah or Koroit boulder opal for fret markers...
