wow, $40 for the top alone would have been a haul. But to get the cabinet too is great!

Yeah it's a lot of work, but I wanted to hand plane the top to get a feel for the work my grandfather used to go through. The bottom side will be machined flat.

As far as the bolts, I plan on trimming the entire top with walnut. So it will hide the bolts.

Nice looking guitar Jammy .... I remember asking a ways back if the bridge would be sitting on the X brace - thats a pretty radical back set on the bridge - does the bass side sit on the X ???? A pic of the bracing would be cool - as is - put a light inside the guitar and them dim the room lights and take the shot ...

Looks pretty cool though .. how does she sound ???

I've been routing binding channels and repairing a mistake.
Here I'm heating up the end graft to remove it because I cut into the purfs when routing the binding channel.Dumb Mistake And I finally got my pics working again!    




OK, I got the old one out.


And the new one glued in. Now I got plenty of length to mitre!

That's right, Hesh. I wouldn't call the first a Matchless clone anymore.
I've been having fun tweaking it around. Right now it's somewhere
inbetween a Jennings era vox and the Matchless Lighting I originally did.
Right now I'm trying to figure out how to get it down to five watts
(because it's LOUD), and then I'm going to actually try to make one every
now and then to sell with some higher-end parts.

Nathan, this one is a Dumble inspired amp. I just turned it on for the first
time today and have to admit I'm not thrilled with it. I'm going to play a
bit more, but I would rather turn my energy to my guitars until they're
done. I'm irritated that I've spent so much time on this and came out un-
thrilled.

At home; A few ukes, 18 watt turret board, flamed mahogany Grand parlor
for me.

At work lots of guitars, but current cooler ones are a 3.5 ziricote/redwood,
ebony/redwood, brazilian/bearclaw, and an all walnut one.

I've been distracted for guitar building lately, so this is what's on my bench.

This one weighed in at 45#. 

OOh man, talk about overload.  I must warn you it is a little dangerous to include both of my favorite hobbies in one spot at the same time, fishing and building.

Very nice fish.  What kind of tackle did you use/how long to land?  If you want to hear something strange, every few years one of our deep sea boats in San Diego will land a fatty salmon just off the coast. Talk about being lost! Jason

Mmmmmm! Nice catch Doug! Now you have to get busy making a custom, hand-built smoker.

Precious little this summer....though my golf game is improving
