   I'd play a man's guitar! A Jumbo! Not listed because you guys are probably scared of them!

   It all about the sound. The Jumbo carries through in a big way. The first I ever played was a Taylor, I was impressed. I avoided them because I didn't want to even remotely look like Gene Autry. After hearing one up close I was sold.

   Well, I have to get back in te saddle again!

I'm a 000/OM player. Dreads are too deep and too thumpy.

It's a pretty small guitar universe when archtops, flamencos, Maccaferris, and electrics don't exist.

When I play (not enough ) the guitar I built for myself is a 16" oval hole archtop with a 24-1/2" scale. I'd post a photo, but I have no idea how to do so on this forum.

I think thats as close to cheating as you can get in a poll, Lex. I think I'll go with Lex's choice, but it would have to come with a stand or an orthopedic surgeon, either one.  

Hmmm, I wonder if you made an acoustic like that electric, if it would be neck heavy

Click on the little button on the upper right of any post that reads "POST REPLY" and when the new screen appears  click on the icon that has a picture of a tree on it. Select the picture that you want to upload and follow the directions from there.

My favorite guitar is OM ish in shape, but designed to minimize the left hand reach to the first fret. 12 fret, wide neck to accomodate my stubby fingers, short scale, smallish upper bout & a nice big (15") belly for lots of bass.
I call it my "CT (carpal tunnel) Special"
At a jam last night, my Fishman died & I borrowed a guitar to do my set. My poor left hand nearly croaked on me after three songs. I can play the CT Special for over an hour with almost no discomfort. Guess the design works!
For the shear enjoyment of the "sound", my Zebrawood / Cedar small jumbo is my guitar of choice for fingerpicking.
OM & OOO size guitars have always been my preference for comfort & playability... And good looks.
Like Bill Green said above... Thank goodness I am allowed to keep more than one!

I’m fortunate enough to have two really great sounding Ukuleles. One high end production and one a Luthier made custom. Actually, I guess I should add the tenor that I made because it honestly has a great sound. These instruments make me sound a heck of a lot better than my starter uke. Unfortunately, I have no musical talent at all but that has never stopped me from enjoying my ukuleles. I just plink away and yes even sing. My wife says that I can take every song ever written and make them all sound the same. Oh well.

What I really can’t understand is why you guys keep building those beautiful instruments and keep adding two extra strings. It just doesn’t make much since to me since I can barely get by on 4 strings.

Thanks to you here at the OLF and my building class I am a better builder than a player. Of course, that’s not saying much. I will post some photos soon if I can find where my wife put the camera.

I'm with Howard... I love my little old Holzapfel 00, but the guitar I reach for most often is the archtop I built 10 years ago.

Hmmm...well, based on the replies so far, I'd say the days of spelling dreadnaught with d***d****t are over. That's a body style popular enough, apparently, to be
spelled out...all proper like.

So "Say it loud, I'm a dread and I'm proud". Haaaaaaaaayhhhh.

Well I casted my vote for SJ because it is a good all round size for small to medium venues, finger style. Travis picking, and flat picking.

That said I tend to play my OM when at home more than any other. Mainly because I play mostly finger style.

I have a sneaky filling though in the future My MJ will become pretty popular in my house.

Anyone else notice this guy has black eye?...Hummm?? wounder how that happened

[/QUOTE] I have Frank's Prima plan. I've built a few and I think it is an OM/OOO shape. Mine fits perfectly into a Huss and Dalton OM case I picked up for it.
