Thought I'd share a thought or two on life and lutherie.

The motto I try to live my life by is "The only bad mistake is the one you
don't learn from"

Remember when you screw something up to chalk it up as a learning
experience. This goes just as well in your personal life too. I've screwed up
pretty bad there as well and while the effect of mistakes may linger, ask
forgiveness, and improve yourself. When you screw up a guitar, take a step
back, try to fix it and then learn for the next time.

And I'm really not looking forward to the big 3-0 next year....

John, you were just 23 when we first met via the 13th fret. I think you had just completed a year at Pantheon?

Gettin'ta be an old man!

30? only 30?

Wait a decade or two. When you have hair sprouting from nose, ears, and bushy eye brows. Then you can call yourself a luthier. You're just a young pup.

Happy birthday dude!

Happy Birthday John. 29! I guess that video camera must age you a few years. As far as mistakes, there are very few that can't be fixed with hide glue....whether your own or animal...... and if done correctly both will be unnoticeable.

Happy Birthday, John!! 29? Dang I have a son that's 29. Paul said it right: You can't be a luthier until that ear hair starts getting in your way.

I rememeber when I was thirty...I had a mid life crisis!!

What changed it for me was when I started work at a Craft College for adult education...at 34, I am one of the youngest employees there....

Anyway, John, have a GREAT birthday, and please understand that being in your 30's is still YOUNG!

I told my mom, "I wanna be a guitar player when I grow up...she said, now Larry...you know you can't do BOTH"!

And the camera adds 10 pounds....so....how many cameras were actually ON you John?

Happy Birthday John!

Don’t worry about next year at all. I remember 30 and it just another moment in time. Gosh, I’m feeling old right now since I’m easily old enough to be your father.

Maybe its best to remember that having birthdays is a good thing and the opposite of having birthdays is a bad thing.

John,

What was I thinking!

Take the rest of the day off, go home, and play The Blue Oyster Cult's "Don't fear the Reaper". Bang the Cow Bell all night long. And if you need motivation here is a link to the best Cow Bell songs ever. Enjoy!
