I just veneered two headstocks for a customer and there is a lot of veneer left over. We've decided to apply it to pick guards so they will match. I have lots of black plastic p/g material, my idea was to cut out the guards, glue the veneer on as I did on the heads and shoot a few coats of lacquer. Question is, what kind of adhesive would be best here (I used Titebond on the heads)? (And I'll make myself a note to be sure to remove the film before I do it). Veneer is 0.020, I don't have any sort of vacuum so I'll probably be clamping between something flat - maybe 3/4 MFD

Do you have enough veneer to lay up a few layers with epoxy and make the pick guards from that?

Titebond always worked for me doing veneer applications.

Does titebond adhere to plastic? What about contact cement? I'll be interested with what you decide to use. ...and how it worked.

How about Duco or Stew mac Bind-all? Works for plastic binding...

I would go with a contact cement like used for P-Lam counter tops.

I’ve used Bryan’s suggestion with good results.
3-5 layers of veneer glued with veneer glue.
The finished piece is durable, machinable, and somewhat flexible.
