Well, I told myself I wouldn't post this, but what the hey, it's Thanksgiving, and I'm thankful it's finished, and I can now say I've built two! It sounds fantastic (to me at least) and was a gift for my 17 yr. old son, who has declared his desire to learn to play.

Dreadnaught, standard Martin shape, and bracing pattern
EIR back and sides (two non-english speaking guys)
Lutz top (Bobc)
Wildly flamed maple bindings and endgraft (Don Williams)
Mahog/maple/rosewood lam neck (Watkins)

IS that the traditional thanksgiving tree in the back?

Lucky son, lucky dad to have a son he wants to build a guitar for.

Yep, we get started early around the Greene household. And thanks for the compliment. I started my daughter's guitar tonight in fact...so I count myself doubly lucky.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Yahhoooooo Bill, that's some sound machine!

Second Christmas tree I've seen this season.

My neighbor has one in his front window.

Why does he act like the Grinch?

Great guitar....

Beautiful Bill. Very nicely done. But to be honest, I could have done without the tree. We haven't even begun discussing what we are doing for whom. Glad one of us is a head of the curve this season.

Wow, Bill!!!

Great looking guitar, simply elegant!!!

I’m with you, on the maple bindings. I’m doing it too on my second. Also, really nice touch with
the combo B/W!

How did you like working with the EIR from the “two non-English speaking guys”?

Is that the guitar you were working on when I was last there?

Great job, my friend!

Robert

Bill,

Lovely guitar. Making instruments for your children is really satifying!!

If that's a Picea abies with a rootball it's next to then plant it out somewhere high and maybe your childrens, childrens, childrens, childrens, childrens . . . children will be able to make a nice Euro spruce topped guitar one day.

Very pretty Bill. I wish you would bring it over and let me admire it properly.

Is number 3 in the works?

Beautiful guitar, and great work, Bill.  I bet your son is beside himself.  I know I would be, to be receiving such a fine looking instrument.  How does the guitar sound?

Thank you folks. The tree goes up typically just before Thanksgiving. My wife handles all the work; it's her favorite time of the year. And my kids love it too.

Robert: The EIR from the Charlotte boys was fantastic. It's good wood. When I get a bit more extra dough, I'll have some more of it on the shelf.

JohnK: I accept your gracious invitation. I need to come visit you at some point. Your work is inspiring, and I mean that in all sincerety.

BobK: Consider it done. After Thanksgiving I'm going tot try and put together a quickie workshop with Carl. I'll be in touch.

Waddy: I hate we've missed your presence for a couple of times now. The guitar sounds fantastic, at least to my tin ears. Great bass, it's loud and the sustain is amazing. Trust me when I say it was just luck. I "thought" I was doing everything I needed to do, but I have no real proof.
