Well, I told myself I wouldn't post this, but what the hey, it's Thanksgiving, and I'm thankful it's finished, and I can now say I've built two! It sounds fantastic (to me at least) and was a gift for my 17 yr. old son, who has declared his desire to learn to play.

Dreadnaught, standard Martin shape, and bracing pattern
EIR back and sides (two non-english speaking guys)
Lutz top (Bobc)
Wildly flamed maple bindings and endgraft (Don Williams)
Mahog/maple/rosewood lam neck (Watkins)

Very cool Dred. Bill.I like the rosewood and Lutz.Cool neck too. Thats great to give it to your son !I did that too and we really became closer by playing music.Its a lot of fun but we're kind of limited as he only knows 4 chords so far.Have fun teaching your boy. WTG !

Smoke on the Water can be played with 4 cords - I know this for a fact

Yep, we get started early around the Greene household. And thanks for the compliment. I started my daughter's guitar tonight in fact...so I count myself doubly lucky.

Beautiful Bill. Very nicely done. But to be honest, I could have done without the tree. We haven't even begun discussing what we are doing for whom. Glad one of us is a head of the curve this season.

Lovely guitar. Making instruments for your children is really satifying!!

If that's a Picea abies with a rootball it's next to then plant it out somewhere high and maybe your childrens, childrens, childrens, childrens, childrens . . . children will be able to make a nice Euro spruce topped guitar one day.

Thank you folks. The tree goes up typically just before Thanksgiving. My wife handles all the work; it's her favorite time of the year. And my kids love it too.

Robert: The EIR from the Charlotte boys was fantastic. It's good wood. When I get a bit more extra dough, I'll have some more of it on the shelf.

JohnK: I accept your gracious invitation. I need to come visit you at some point. Your work is inspiring, and I mean that in all sincerety.

BobK: Consider it done. After Thanksgiving I'm going tot try and put together a quickie workshop with Carl. I'll be in touch.

Waddy: I hate we've missed your presence for a couple of times now. The guitar sounds fantastic, at least to my tin ears. Great bass, it's loud and the sustain is amazing. Trust me when I say it was just luck. I "thought" I was doing everything I needed to do, but I have no real proof.
