Not enough vacuum pressure would be generated. Then you need to be able to maintain the pressure at constant

I guess if a person could hook it up to a vacuum pump with an adapter it might make a quick&dirty setup.

You would need some way to insure the top and braces did not move during initiation of the vacuum. That means you need some type of fixture to hold the top and locate the braces position.
