Just completed the second of two 14.75 inch scale length mandolins in Englemann Spruce and River Oak. This one has a ziricote finger board and ebony binding and is finished with hardened shellac.

I'm happy with their sound, but I lack experience (and possibly objectivity!). I would really like to locate an experienced player locally who could critique them for me. I could do a sound sample, but it would be limited by my (lack of) playing ability :)

Yes, A style with a 3 meter induced curve in the top and the back. The general shape and technique is based on the flat top in Graham McDonald's book "The Mandolin Project" https://www.mcdonaldstrings.com/mandolinproject.html but the scale length is a little longer and I've used a mortise and tenon neck joint.

I think there's some confusion here. A-style usually means the Gibson archtop mandolin of the early 20th century. My sister had one. Sweet instrument.

I'm happy to defer to others here. Is there a preferred descriptor for this type of mandolin - not exactly a flat top or back, but with an induced curve rather than a carved one?
