I'm looking to source thinner clear pickguard material. Something around .002" would be great. Preferably adhesive back. I've got the .005" stuff from SM already.

Thanks, M

What are you hoping for? I’ve found pg to be sonically invisible...

Hi Ed,

It's about aesthetics.

My customer wants it to be thinner than the .005" I've got on hand. .002" would be perfect!

Sadly I can't help as all the stuff I have comes in at .007.

If you find anything, let us know. I'm out of satin pg's which is a bit of a pickle for me..l

.002" wouldn't be much protection. That is about like saran wrap.

I found an adhesive back product called Dura-lar that comes in .002 and .005. Unfortunately it only comes in gloss. They do make a .005 matte product but without the adhesive back. Testing to follow.

Most of the folks that own my guitars are members of the press-on nails and superglue brigade. They tend to rest their sharp pinky and ring finger nails on the top which puts lovely little dents in an unprotected top. I’m guessing that the .002” PG will be enough protection for these types.

Best, M

That makes sense. I more used to the heavy flat pick brigade.
