Hi!
Trying to keep this section of the forum alive,
so I''l try posting more here.
Anyway, 9 years ago I bought a koa Weeissenborn set,
and decided after bracing the top, to go with spruce on top,
and the back and sides koa.
Carried this top around for years, and finally used it on this thin line body.
My house burned down in the Tubbs fire in Sonoma county 2 years ago.
The firefighter(s) saw my guitar collection of 12 or so, and as the house was burning down,
rescued 5 guitars and took them out of the house.
Amazingly this was saved.
I had strung it up the day of the fire.
Anyway, this guitar has a saddle pick up, (old Baggs),and a Seymour mag.
The bridge is wood, and I have been thinking of a way to ground the mag pup,
because it's noisy, and I'm getting less tolerant of noisy electrics.
So, the choices I can come up with are,
1- run a ground wire from a metal rod under the strings on the bridge against the pins.
then run a wire to ground at jack, and connect to a bracelet, ( I don't think so!).
2- buy an EMG active pup and replace the Seymour, as active pups don't need a ground.
3- see if somebody here has another idea.
I like the active pick ups, but would love to not spend another $100.

Oops. Forgot the picture!

Taylor uses a small brass plate under the bridge with holes that align with the pins. The string balls contact this plate which is grounded via a small wire to the electronics.

Thanks for the info, Brian. I'm going to go with the EMG active.
It's just easier. Also I can build another slab lap with the pick up
I will take out.
