I use a go-bar deck to plenty of stiff fiberglass go-bars to glue the back and top. However, I use bicycle inner tube for glueing the binding around the top and back of the guitar body.

As someone else said, backwash hose is not elastic enough to use as a replacement for the inner tube IMHO.

I would assume that bicycle inner tube is free for all of us. It for me. I just walk in a bike shop and ask for their throw-away used tubes and they give me all I want. For this reason I see no need to purchase rubber bands at a cost.

Also, I think it would be easier to ADJUST the pressure exerted by the inner tube strips than rubber bands that are much shorter than the inner tube strips. Looking at the thinness of the rubber bands in the picture in the message above it would be impossible to put as much pressure with them compared to a 3/4" or 1" inner tube strips IF more pressure was wanted. Less pressure could be done by the inner tube bands IF adjusted down in pressure during the wrapping process.
