Thinking to use epoxy for gluing next fingerboard - I have araldite standard (high strength slow cure), have ordered Devcon 2 Ton Epoxy, and can also get BSI here in UK
Never thought to ask here what others recommend - duh

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

I use West Systems. Whatever you use do the slow set kind. It usually cures harder than the quick set.

I also use West System slow set, and it works well for me. I mix it by weight: I think the proportion is 3.7 to 1 part hardener. A small digital scale, cheap from eBay (about $15 US), makes it easy to mix even small amounts of epoxy accurately.

I used Smith’s from LMI on my last, but this looks like one more reason to invest in some West.

After some research and the replies to this post and others in the archives I think I'm leaning towards the Smiths https://www.makewoodgood.com/product/oak-teak-glue-wood-glue/

Contrarian here, I/ve used it and have 3 different types and 2 part UF glue . Frankly dont like it, for these reasons , Dont like the smell , , very messy application, and trying to remove it is, hard and cleanup is messy.. Once put on coco fb with epoxy , because of the oils and then had to remove it . Total pita. Your mileage and results will vary. I/ve had better luck using epoxy with a brush or roller for laminated sides . For FB . I prefer fish . long open time , . easy cleanup with warm water , easy to remove fb for repairs. I also use fish for frets , not ca,
