Well, I'm going to be a guest speaker at a local woodorker's guild in March, and I need to start a guitar to have some in-progress stuff to show them. I'm going to build a OO, and am thinking of doing it with a redwood top, East Indian back and sides. Since this is also an experimental guitar, it will be a bare-bones guitar, no purflings, just ivoroid bindings. Has anyone ever built a guitar this size in this combination? Any suggestions and/or advice?

Thanks!

I think it'll be a nice combo. Actually I was going to suggest putting t least a double line purf on the top but just an iveroid binding might be kinda cool all by itself. I haven't used iveroid in such a long time I may have to do one soon.

Don sound cool. I used some of the tortis binding from stew mac not long ago. nice binding for the plastic stuff and makes a nice rosette to boot

The tortis looks really nice on cedar and rosewood so redwood should be great with it

John, I plan on some top purfling, just no side purflings. I may do a backstrip though, just for some sort of traditional accent. The redwood top sure doesn't fit the traditional look!
