i tryed laserjet waterslide & im seeing the edges to clearly thru my urethane...i just tryed deskjet rub on & after using up the first sheet i printed another & it seems the sheets are now no good they fall apart when i take off the tacky paper.
what are you using & please tell me were your getting it so i know what brand to look for

You should seriously consider wood inlays. If you havn't tried it before, its easier than you might think.

I didn't try to do it myself. It cost me about £15 for 30 or so decals. 10 gold, 10 white, 10 black. Can't print gold or white at home and 30 decals will last me a long while. Excellent quality and the edges positively disappeared under a few coats of clear nitro.

Lots of people mistook it for an inlay in pics. Personally, I would never waste time trying to inlay "my logo" (rank amateur undeserving of a logo really) as it is as thin as a signature. A fool's errand if ever I saw one. One for the CNC users! Much more sense as a decal I think.

I use ink jet waterslide and it works well for me. I seal it while it's on the paper and then clear coat it on the headstock. I've had no complaints.

I get these super thin decals from Rothko and Frost printed with opaque metallic ink. They're completely solid and totally invisible under the laquer at all angles. they can go over any color or figure wood. You can use their templates, or they can design an original one for you using your original artwork. I scanned a guy's signature and sent it to them, they duplicated it exactly for my customer's very own "Signature Model" guitar.
