I'd dye the birdseye black and sand it back, then shoot in clear

Need to put in some filler and level sand. I like it.
I'll sand the body sides tomorrow. Too afraid to risk a router bit.

I sure like that Dan.
A cavity cover on the back matching the guard would be cool.
I've done a few like that matching the headplate and or backstrap and worked out nice.
With Wenge was probably my favorite on the ones with gold hardware.

On another site I frequent it was suggested to put small pearl dots in the screw locations on the guard...I passed.

Would love to see the regular maple with an orange tint for even greater contrast. Kind of like the old pumpkin color.

Dan I thought you may like seeing these.

It was my first attempt- I used a metal aftermarket pickguard and raised it for bearing/router blade space. (the plastic one I used was tapered on the edge and bearing had no trouble deforming it)

I was also going to use Zebra until I noticed the aftermarket pickguard didn't follow body lines as exact as I wanted. I found that out when I pencil traced using the negative on the body.

When I backed up to make a paper pattern that did follow the lower bout of body (and use to modify the positive and negative) is when I realized I could leave out the going around trem, leave enough to use the neck pocket in that area and that using Birdseye to match the fretboard would be a better choice.

I still appreciate the finish suggestions but to far along to change now.
