Thanks for the kind words guys. It's been a bit of a learning experience for me, but so far it's been pretty rewarding.

Here are the pics I promised. It's still today for about 30 minutes.





I'm having a bit of trouble with the wiring. I followed the diagram on Seymour Duncan's site, but things are not working out yet. I'm going to try some things tomorrow to fix it and hope I can get it going. Then it's just a setup and final adjustments and it's done. I'm pretty happy with it. I hope that the owner likes it too.

Looks really good! I am just starting a neck-thru bass so this was great info for me. How's it play? I know the pups aren't wired yet, but I assume you know how much set up is needed. Also, at this point your truss rod is in nuetral (I assume) so you have the truss rod, nut, and bridge to adjust. Using the straight edge from the frets to the bridge at it's lowest setting, as you mentioned earlier, is there enough adjustment room for a good set up? This is the part that concerns me the most in my build.

Thanks all. Sorry for the delay on getting back to this. It's been busy and I was out of town all last week. As of now, the bass is finished. I got the wiring sorted. I had the capacitor wired to the wrong terminal on the pot and that was the problem. Switched it around and it sounds huge. The neck pickup is nice and growly like a good jazz bass should be and the neck pickup is nice and deep. I love the way it sounds. And they are dead silent too being a dual coil design, so there is no 60 cycle hum to be heard.

As for the setup on a neck through, I put the top of the frets at roughly the same height as the top of the saddles when they are all the way down. This way, I can move the saddles up as required when it's strung up. I had to give the truss rod about a 1/4 turn when it was brought up to pitch and it straightened it right up and it's great. Plays nice with no buzzing frets or anything. If you have any questions on setting up a neck through or how to build things so that they can be set up properly, feel free to ask. I'm still new to this, but I've got a bit of experience and will share what has worked for me.

Thanks James. This bass is done and delivered. I'll put up some pics of the finished product as soon as I'm able to sit down for a minute and do that. I've also got the next one lined out and ready to start. It's going to be a flying v guitar for the bro in law of the guy that got this bass. Should be a fun project.

Nice job! I like how the finish turned out with the black pore filler. Really sweet!

Here are some finished pictures of the bass. It was featured as the bass of the week on bestbassgear.com a while back. I haven't had time to properly finish up this thread, so I figured that this was as good as anything.
