I've got a guy who wants me to build a Ken Lawrence style Explorer, with either bubinga or more likely cocobolo top and one piece coco neck. Should be a fun project. He's gonna provide all the hardware and electronics and do his own wiring at his request. Not sure what the body wood will be, I was considering going fancy with some quilted maple. Any suggestions?

I'm excited to have my first custom job. :D

Use Black Limba for the neck and body, and Bubinga for the fretboard.

Cool and Timely! I plan on building an explorer this winter! Just trying to finalize how I want to do the neck pocket/tenon.

Make sure to document your Build on this forum!

Congrats, Chameleon!
Hey, Laurent Brondel from the acoustic side told me how to finish coco with oil based finish.
Thin it down 50/50,
keep adding coats,
then go with regular coats.
It works!
I think it's only oil based finishes that are a problem on coco..
Don't ask me how I know this.
