Beautiful work, Ellison! I love the tiger inlay...very nicely done. How do you like the PO cedar as a neck material? Was it easy to work with? Also, is it natural or did you stain it? I've thought about using it for a better color match to go with myrtle back and sides.

Nice pair - I reallly like that OM!

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Thanks for the positive replies, folks! Yeah, I'm extremely happy with the OM. It's a great looking little guitar. It's only been strung up for a couple weeks, so the sound is still slowly opening up. It's really going to be a nice fingerstyle instrument, but isn't the best right now when played with a pick. The jumbo isn't the most exciting thing to look at, but it sounds pretty incredible. It's such a big powerful sounding instrument!

Charlie, the port oxford cedar was great to work with! Bladed tools worked well and it sanded very nicely. The smell is nice too! I didn't stain it, and it really is very white. It has a coating of shellac on it which may give it a very slight amber tint, but unfinished it is a spruce-like white.

Port Orford you of course mean. I have one of these trees in my backyard. Never thought of using it for a neck though. Nice work. Are those grover tuners?

Haha, I always spell that wrong and I don't know why! Anyway, yep, they're Grovers. Great tuners for the money.
