OK, it's finally that time. I'm going to do a run of pyramid bridges, as quite a few people have inquired about them.

Pricing will be as follows, based on total quantity ordered from all members, basic bridge is Indian Rosewood:

$22 each to 20
$20 each to 50
$18 each to 100
$15 each above 100

On an order from an individual, you get $1 off each if you order 5 and $1.50 off each if you order 10.

Ebony (Gabon or Macassar) is a $3 charge above IRW
BRW is a $6 charge above IRW
Other woods available on request (kingwood, cocobolo, snakewood, I stock a lot of woods here)

All bridges come with pin holes drilled to your choice of string spacing and 3/32" saddle slot. Take $2 off the price of the bridge if you don't need the drilling/saddle slot done. I can make 'em pinless for $3, but I make no guarantees they won't rip a hole in your top

If anyone wants anything else special, just ask in thread. Any thoughts or questions welcome. Total bridge height is 0.35" and there is 1/16" of platform on them. They're standard dimension 1"x6" profile and the pyramids are 1/4" tall. The pyramids are geometrically accurate (sharp, flat) to their edges and then blend into the belly of the bridge.



Surface finish is a big deal here, so here's a closeup of the sort of quality finish you can expect on our parts.

Bob, could you run a few in BZ if I send you blanks? For one thing, I need a repro to replace a badly trashed one on a 1919 Martin 00-18...I could make it, but not for the price you're quoting! Then it would be nice to stash a couple for future restorations, etc.

These are nice, but Rick, if it's for a reproduction, note that the original Martin pyramid isn't an actual 4 sided pyramid. The geometrically perfect pyramid like Bob does here is a modern take on it. Most won't notice, but many will...

Bob, would it be possible to stretch these out to 6-1/8" or 6-1/4" long, while retaining all other dimensions? Perhaps by adding the extra material to the center of an un-drilled, un-slotted bridge? Or would it require a whole re-drawing?

Yes, you're right, but it may be hand tweakable.   I'll go look at the original...that had two big-ass wood screws driven through it to help the white silicone sealant hold it on.   Of course one was a flat-head and the other a round-head.   It's a bass-treble thing, you understand...

Yes, that's the finish straight off the Fadal. We're a high quality shop here, after all. I figure it's a couple minutes extra on the machine VS you spending 45 minutes with 150 grit trying to take out machine marks.

Stretching the middle section of the bridge is easy enough, just a couple minutes work, but I would need to redo all the toolpaths from scratch and re-proof them on the machine so there'd be an upcharge unless a lot of people wanted the same modification.

I just needed one, so no bother. Carving these is good chisel practice work...
