Hi Bruce,
I am from SG.
If the potential client is really from SG, she should know enough about the local food (E.g. Char Kway Teow - a local favourite Chinese fried mee served with raw cockles) local street etc.
Maybe you can ask her more about the SG.
If you are interested, more I can provide you with more info.
Sen

How for to you not trust Evelyn, Mr. Bruce?
Payment made in advantage for fast deliverable times...or perhaps to make deposit directly to bank statement?
Thank you for your attention to my input above.

Bruce, You should absolutely send the guitar!! Evelyn Thompson is an no doubt a fictitious name to maintain anonymity. With that usage of the English language it is obviously YODA who is trying to order one of your guitars. How frickin cool would it be to have an honest to goodness Jedi Master wielding a Bruce Dickey Custom gitfiddle!! Don't pass up this most grashus opertoonitee!!

I actually had something similar happen when I was selling my truck on craigs list.

A guy emailed me and said that he was in Colorado and that he was interested in the truck. He said that he would pay to have it shipped and that he would send me a check for "X" amount of dollars over my asking price + shipping and that I was to cash it and wire the extra amount to a family member that he owed money to. He was also so gracious to let me keep an additional $500 for my trouble since he was buying from out of state.

I replied to him "Oh really? I'm actually catching a plane to Colorado in 2 days. And will be just 30 minutes from where you are. Why don't I get your number and meet up with you when I'm there so you can pay me in person then I'll ship the truck up right after I get back."

He replied back saying that he had already found another vehicle.

Shucks. And I knew that he was really serious about buying it. Just as seriuos as I was about really having a plane ticket to Colorado.

I would have to go along with those that said I would take nothing but cash for something that sounds as fishy as this.

Hi Bruce,

I've recieved exactly the same message ( word by word ) except it was address to my name about 2 months ago.

i agreed with Chris that the name is not common in Singapore.

Well, when I replied that all payment is by bank TT, she went on to look for another potential victim to suck! I'm sure she must be lurking around and even reading everything in OLF!

If she is REAL and Genuine, I'll give here  50% discount!!!!

BTW, Singapore is a small city and there are many super rich people, even the tender of a permit to own a car is enough to buy a house in my place! I have a real customer who owned almost every luthiers' guitars that he knew, he bought a house just to put all his guitars! So guys, Singapore is not a place to be blacklisted as a scamyard. I know there are quite a lot of guitars ( almost all brands or names ) can be found there. Like I've said, its a cramped city and people has a lot of money to spend and they like to show off too.

I think this is a scam.
That address looks like its specially contrived for this purpose.

I believe that if a potential customer is genuinely interested in acquiring a guitar, when you reply to them they would show much interest in the correspondence.

Thanks Jeffrey and Sen and John.

I figured some of you were getting these also.

Not a bad thing to see it before you get one, ay?

We just have to be aware they are out there, trying to get to us.....

Jeffrey, I think I already scare Evelyn away.

Don't worry about press wrong button, we all do same.

I love your guitars, especially when Tommy Emmanuel play.

If I get another one of these emails, we'll do as you say, okay?

Life is good, pass along the fun, ay!
