Hello all. Last week I was asking around for a pic of this type of holding tray
as opposed to a Williams/Fleishman style cradle. The other type would
work, but this is a little more streamlined for my needs. I don't have room
for a parallelogram type of binding machine and so use a handheld router
and jig to cut my binding channels. I made this from memory but it is pretty
close to others I have seen. There is another set of bolt holes that you can't
see that accomodate a smaller guitar body (parlor). There is plenty of room
around the perimeter to clamp the tray to the bench and initial tests confirm
that the jig holds the body nice and snug without damaging anything. Hope

Man, this is frustrating. Does anyone have an idea why my photos are not
appearing? I've uploaded plenty of photo's to Myspace and have not
experienced any problems. Any idea's?

EDIT: I had it working, and saw your picture, but you seem to have moved it now!

I had to circumvent the problem. I am using a mac these days and suspect
that it was part of the problem. I emailed the pics to myself and then
opened them and uploaded them to OLF with my wifes pc laptop. I wonder
what's up? Anyway...Hope you can use the idea.

the only thing I noticed is that there is no height adjustment. Maybe the way you route the channels theres no need for it. Normally you neet to raise the upper bout to compensate the back taper so that the sides are all at the same angle.

Peter, remember that I don't use a router on an arm but a handheld router
jig so the height adjustment is not necessary.

I don't think a height adjustment is required if using a handheld router/trimmer that registers off the top or back. Even if you're using a tool like the luthier tool binding jig, it won't matter. If you're using an LMI, fleischman (sp?) style setup, a height adjustment would be necessary.
