I'm always looking for cherry - esp for necks (pieces that meet all the criteria for top quality neck material). For backs and sides, I'm happy with non-figured cherry if it is quartersawn and has nice coloration. I also like curly cherry if the figure is _really_ great (which most "curly cherry" isn't, IMO).

I'm also always looking for unique and striking looking pieces of wood to make rosettes out of. Not the usual amboyna burl and the like, but one-of-a-kind things that turn up (like I even find occasionally when cutting firewood, for example).

Looking for a 14fret, 24.9 scale, bolt on neck for a L-OO style project.(mahogany or spanish cedar)

Looking for:

Orphan sides, various species, even ugly ones, even broken ones, even thin ones - as long as they're pretty well quartersawn.

Nightmare fingerboard blanks - as long as they are well quartersawn. They may be cracked, have blotchy color, sap pockets, knots, worm holes, or other problems that make them unsuitable as fingerboards.

Hi Larry,

The sides or sections of sides would be used inside the guitar as one layer of a sandwich that I will cut out to form an access port on guitars. I only need about 6" to 7" long pieces, which is why even broken sides may work.

The nasty fingerboard is a concrete example of a quartersawn offcut at least 19" - 20" long. I have not gotten any response when I just ask for "offcuts" or "scraps." Those I would resaw and bookmatch, forming wedges for guitar backs that are too narrow or too boring. Extra bonus points for quartersawn scraps that are figured! I am a nut for symmetry, and my main beef with the wedge on a 3-piece back is that it often destroys the symmetry of the back. Thus the 4-piece back, disguised as a 3-piece back.

I can get you set up with an acrylic one but they are not cheap, I think they are about $150 for the dish and the lid would be close to the same. The way we have it designed you should only need one lid even if you have two or three different dishes (as I do) as the lid is where we have the vacuum port attached and it is transferable to each of the dishes.
