I've only done one so far with my luthiertool jig, but it was a snap. It's really well built, quality tool.

Luthiertool jig here...the only way to go. It makes it so simple, accurate and repeatable...as easy as installing a knee!

straight. That was the bit of orthopedics I enjoyed most, really, all the funky jigs, tools, fixtures, and the speed at which it all goes together in the hands of an experienced surgeon.

Still not my kind of field, but the tooling and jigging is fantastic...LanceK39384.4952083333

I have the great luthier tool jig as well. The first one developed a sticky thread on the width adjustment and with one quick email Chris said send it back and mailed me a new one. Fabulous service from this fine company. I love mine!!

On a side note...

I also have that neck set jig he makes and that thing is fantastic too. Not ONLY will it help you get the up/down neck angle perfect, it also helps get the right/left neck angle dead on.

Literally just a couple pulls of the sandpaper and it is a perfect fit.

It is 'spensive, but very very slick.

Don't let the orthopedic surgeons get a hold of one of the neck jigs.... I don't think neck replacements are done yet....

Is an orthopede a well educated carpenter?

Chris' neck set jig is very impressive. Equally impressive is the Woolson tenon jig. Since I built this one it has significantly simplified that operation as well. More importantly, it saved me many hundreds of $$$.

I've seen the incredible skill of some orthopods for many years. The sounds that come from the OR suite are not unlike what we hear in our shops. They are in fact very skillful and I'm not surprised that Terry and other orthopods are such excellent woodworkers. Many of the jigs and tools used in joint replacement were actually invented by surgeons.

Yeah, I have one of those too. You are right ... it is very nice as well, and the utility of that led me to Chris'.

The thing though.... is that the luthier tool neck jig is not just a more industrial version of the fox/woolson jig. Where that jig gives you a perfect fit with respect to up/down neck angle, the luthier tool jig also gives you side-to-side accuracy that gives you a virtually perfect fit right off the router.

I am not critisizing the Fox/Woolson jig.. not at all. It was because of how much I liked this design that I bought one of Chris' tools.
