This is a project I started last year and now after my summer in Siguenza with Jose Romanillos

I’m off in another direction buildingwise. I thought it might be of some interest to another builder and thus I’ve consigned it to a friend to auction on EBAY. It is being offered as a “kit” though it will require advanced skills to bring it to fruition and thus I mention it here. Note the one-off rosette replica I built from the Brune’ specs which otherwise would be quite time consuming for someone wishing to build a replica of this famous instrument.

Barbero built great flamencos so a proper Barbero replica should sound great...

Nice kit...nice rosette too. I "bumped" up the bid for you. What can I say, Im a sucker for Cypress .

It is a nice kit.  I'm keeping an eye on it myself, but I think I'll wait before I bump it up another dollar.

I like the shape, with the rounded upper bout.  Looks ancient :)  Is it big ? In other words, it is closer to a Torres/Romanillos or to a big Ramirez/Rodriguez etc.

What is the thickness of the solid linings ?

Larger than the largest Torres Plantilla, closer to the Romanillos.

I think around 3mm thick by 10mm or so tall in maple. As stated in the listing, there is kerfed lining supplied if the buyer wishes to not use the solid, but, it is provided if one wants to make a totally accurate replica. 

What is interesting about the Barbero is that while it is not a large "Ramirez size" plantilla, it does have a 660mm scale. Some people think that in classical guitars that longer scale equals larger body but that is not necessarily true.

It wasnt until the 1960's that Ramirez started with the classical guitar equivalent of a "jumbo" with long scale length as their standard that people began to associate long scale with large body.
