I can't pry the backs off these tuners with my current tools - - - is there a reliable way to do this without visible damage? I've seen pry bars offered that open up watches for battery replacement. Worth trying?

Thanks!

What Chris asked Peter.

In advance of that information some tuners these days are not intended to be opened up. For example and although not billed as "sealed" Klusons of the past you could bend the tabs and take the back off, disassemble and clean and then lube them up and reassemble.

These days though the Kluson copies and some Klusons seem to be made out of pot metals that when you bend the tabs they break off. Whoops....

I've never tried to open up a sealed tuner and simply ask our clients to buy replacements and I'll install them. Sadly they often learn that they have to purchase an entire set to get one. Such is life sometimes, sadly.
