This is a 3 part video of a challenging guitar restoration I found very interesting

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Thanks Colin, I enjoyed that, always good to watch people work who know what they’re doing. Learned a few new tricks too. Someone must really be attached to that guitar, I suspect the restoration exceeded the guitar’s value if prices on Reverb are any guide. Not that I have a problem with that given the time I’ve put into a thrashed J45 getting it back into shape.

That was all exceptionally well done, the restoration work, the production quality and the music. Thanks for posting it.
