Post subject: | Early Martin Neck Relief |
Hi folks, I am moving this part of my discussion from the Guitar Building forum. I recently acquired a 1867-68 Martin Style 2-20 or 21. No serial number but a Martin & Co New York stamp. It has the ice cream cone neck heel. The action at the 12th fret is 11/64ths. Way too high. There is no room at the saddle to lower it. So, I have heard some folks pop the fretboard and re-glue it with a forced back bow. I am not sure I can gain the 5/32nd I desire. Anyone have luck with this type of neck reset work around? I am, honestly, freaked out about doing a reset with that heel block. |
