Anyone know who sells blue celluloid or ABS binding? I can only find mother of toiletseat (pearloid) and I need more of a solid royal blue colour. Google, amazon and ebay all come up empty.

I'm restoring a guitar similar to a Harmony All American:. http://harmony.demont.net/model/81.htm

Any alternative ideas?

That's going to be a tough requirement. I'm pretty sure that celluloid in that color won't be available since celluloid in general is getting harder and harder to find.

I did a quick Google of "colored ABS sheets" and came up with some possible suppliers if you want to Google it too. The length may be an issue making it a custom request and likely pricey too. But you might just find what you need.

Cool old guitar!

Thanks Alan. Yeah, I've explored that option a bit and might do it if I can find the right stuff and the right supplier.

Another thought i had was to use non-figured maple or birch and use analine dye to colour it. But of course scraping and sanding it down to fit perfectly will remove the dye. It wouldn't be too big a job to seal and mask the surrounding wood and touch up the dye afterward. I'm leaning toward this method I think.

Transtint dye can add color to white ABS.
In my case, it was not intended and had to be scraped off.
I reckon it would have to be dyed after scraping the binding which would be difficult.
I remember seeing blue ABS on Amazon. If I can find it, I'll let you know.

That's an interesting option I'll play with. I wouldn't expect it to soak up enough colour to give me a solid blue though. Maybe.

If you see any solid blue stuff on the interweb, please let me know. I didnt, other than blue pearloid. Lots of that out there.
