Hi!

Recently comes to the shop a clasical guitar with soundboar/side glue off, after fixing the kerfing and the binding, i start to light sand for a finish retouch, but damm! it was a plywood top!
I sanded through the veneer, showing the crossed grain on the next layer [headinwall]

My firt idea was to put a shader coat all over the top, but was a completely mess. Any sugerence?? Thanks!!

You might be able to splice in a new piece of spruce veneer with the proper orientation and then do the finish touchup.

Yeah I did that recently... Kicked myself in the arse too. I'd fix one area, level sand, and another area would pop up ( or sand through) etc etc.. Fortunately it was a cheapo hand me down from my son. I got tired of trying to fix the plywood and just filled the 8" area around around the bridge with plastic wood. I was going to stain it etc... but I think I am just going to put a solid finish on it now and be done with it.

Paint it black. But that's my solution to just about everything...
