This is the back of an old recording King archtop that I am fixing.
On advice from members here there will be no "refinishing" but I want to do something to protect and stabilise the back which is way worse than the front. Any suggestions welcome.

Carefully re-wetting the finish with a retarder or a retarder solvent blend will often help. Though I must admit that looks pretty far gone and may still flake quite a bit even after that.
