Post subject: | Herman Schaller guitar restoration |
Hello friends. I was presented a classical guitar (Herman Schaller) in rather bad condition. There is a gap between the bridge and the top, part of the top is unglued as well as a part of the back. I tried to show all this on the attached photos. I would like to hear the opinions on this guitar restoration. By the way the sound is good even in this condition. Thanks. PS. If other or more detailed photos are needed just let me know. |

Looks as if it may have been dropped, but not the worst I've seen. Should fix up nice. Most likely some broken or missing linings in the areas where the top and back have popped. Any loose braces? |

Brian, thanks for the reply. I don't know about loose braces yet, how should I check them? What should be my algorithm of repair? Should I remove the binding in the ares of the cracks? What is the best way of treating the bridge? (I would like to lower the strings a little – loose bridge and top belly made them a little bit higher then I prefer). Is it worth to refinish the guitar? |
