Post subject: | Crack in neck heel |
Hi all, I have a crack in the neck heel of my electric guitar which was unfortunately probably caused when i was trying to re-align the neck. What would be the best way to glue? the crack is very small but i think goes up the side of the neck. Seems like it would be difficult to get glue into the crack. Does anyone know any clever tricks for this? thanks for any help, Dave the guitar is about £200 in value but is one of my favourites so i'd like to fix the neck |

you can try clamping it and using thin CA. It will wick in the crack. |

Crack looks like it heads toward the truss rod. Careful you don't lock it up with the CA. |

hi all, The repair was done last week and so far it seems ok. Was a bit trickey to get the glue into the very small crack so I decided to drill 2 very small entry holes. This helped the glue wick into place. I had to do this about 6 times with a syringe. Found the glue very messy so a good work area is important. Also the very small syringe tip blocked quickly and had to use the medium tip. Some paper towels and tissue also was crucial after each gluage. Clamped carefully horizontally, vertically and left to dry for 24 hours then reassembled the geet for some careful testing. Did a bit of light sanding around the heel for an easier fit back onto the guitar body. Neck seems stable at the moment so good news and thanks again for the good advice. pictures here: http://s219.photobucket.com/user/DDviews/library/Guitar%20Neck%20Repair?sort=6&page=1 |

Looks like you used Chair Doctor Glue which is intended to swell wood with moisture before it cures. CA glue is quite different and probably would have been a better choice. Next time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
