Sounds like fun! Count me in. I haven't decided yet what Ill try. I want to look at members projects first and see what stuff I have on hand, before I make a choice. |

Well I found a piece of mahogany. Boring, Its not very inspiring to look at. Even Loki(dog) thinks not. I need more wood to get a real concept flowing. |

Whats this? An oil can... If I can clean it up it might be a cantender(sic) For a 25.5 string length I need about 7 or 8 inches from the bottom og the neck...it may be to short for effective bridge placement. Good Greif its filthy, I may get out the gunk to clean this piece of junk, Im sue theyd charge me to throw it away. |

...maybe the can looks odd due to: "packed for the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co., Ltd."...? Texas Tea? hmm edit: wow cool, i just saw that Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co., Ltd, is none other than A&P.... |

Canjo? Well That can is a bit to dirty for me to use right now as the cleaning process is quite involved in that the toxic material mus be disposed of in the proper manner. The wood is gone as I cut it up to make neck extensions for the oilcan I just finished. I have no shop presently as its all full of junk after moving, I went out there an milled around but theres just no way I can complete a gutiar project by May. I did find some nice maple and unfinished guitars but theres just no way. Maybe next time. |

May is still a while off.. You probably have plenty of time if you still want to do something reasonably simple.... although I totally understand where you are coming from with the move... There will be plenty of unpacking and hanging curtains and pic's in your next few months.... Not to mention if you have to do any maintenance on the lawn or any sort of other hobby stuff like a boat for the spring.... Thanks |

thanks for the interest, Well I did that a few years ago but I actually didnt make the guitar I used a cheaper dobro just replacing the existing cone and cover with...I think a 1969 chevy cover. The guy I made it for still enjoys it, I heard it at a party just before new years actually. Seriously,to do it, I would want/have make the whole guitar, as I would, even with an oilcan entry by making the neck FB etc. Hence the time factor. Normally I just recycle old or cheap off shore parts for oilcans so I aint really "crafting" more like constucting. but ya hubcaps do make cool reso's, tha buddys even given it a nickname, the hubcapper... and hes not even into cars. |

So the firebomb is more likely.... I'd still rather see a canjo and leave the greasiness... call it a speed body. |
