Can't wait to see it, but you must find a way to strum with your leg while you walk. |

Very nice! I have always loved Dulcimers - and want to build one... Somehow, I just keep getting tangled up into Guitar builds, work, and chores around the house.... Thanks |

I have gotten the Headstock alot closer to done , there will be more done to it before its finished . I have changed the standard scroll because its going to be a walking cane as well and have a handle there . Most dulcimers are open all the way through the Scroll area . I have 1/4" of Cherry in the back for strength . While I was cutting you will see I ran across a Hidden sopt in the wood . It is no becomming a cherry and Ca filled knot . Heh, you're way out in front now. Cherry would be OK for the fretboard too. Walnut and cherry look a little funny next to each other, I think. I'd like to find a good hunk of black locust myself, I think that would work well and be hard enough. I'd like to build some dulcimers someday too. I have several nice redwood tops that I got from Hank Maul a few years ago. |

A very good start on an instrument with a lean towards 19th century. Too bad theres no way to incorporate a fishing basket. I think this will be a charming instrument, it'l really make people smile and of course be lots of fun to play. |

building dulcimers is a good way to get into LUTHIERIE, i think. FRIENDS OF THE MOUNTAIN DULCIMER, OR, EVERYTHING DULCIMER, are thriving websites. i've built several myself. |
