Ok I have listened and thought about this alot . I have compiled a List of the Challenge rules that should be followed to the best of ones ability . AGAIN as I have stated before , Honesty and creativity and FUN prevail. There are No Challenge Police , so we police ourselves . Decisions are to be made on your build with the above spirit in mind. If you have a question , refer to the Spirit of the Challenge . ( see above ) ( 1 ) Any stringed instrument you wish to build . ( 2 ) $150.00 Maximum cost , or comperable cost to the land in which you reside " see Spirit of Challenge comment ". To include Wood , Hardware , and Finish IE : Laq , tru-oil , etc: DO NOT count tools , Molds , glue , tape , sandpaper , cases etc: Materials on hand should be given an honest value . See Spirit of challenge comment . ( 3 ) Woods must be Indigenous to your region " within reason " See spirit of challenge comment . ( 4 ) No CITES 1 & 2 Materials ( 5 ) Must be Participating OLF member and throw your hat in the ring prior to end of Jan 2012 ( 6 ) Finished for judging by end Of may 2012 , allows for 1 month of judging to take place in june . ( 7 ) Pics and utube sound clip for judging . ( 8 ) Judging will be done by OLF public vote and the one with most votes at the end of June wins ( 9 ) This is about FUN and CREATIVITY , so lets not get bogged down in petty stuff . Police yourselves and Keep in mind the SPIRIT of the Challenge . START BUILDING AS OF JAN 1ST 2012 , AS OF THE LAND IN WHICH YOU RESIDE There will be a $100.00 prize of Bandsaw blades Provided by Wudwerkr at the end , an additional $25.00 if a " Lurker / Newbie Wins NOTE! Build threads are fine if you wish to do so , not a requirement PLEASE do not bombard me with lists of questions , I promise they will be ignored ! |

If Lance Ok's a New Subheading for this venture we will move it , Other wise it will remain here . If you wish to Document your build , do so here or at challenge subheading . And include " Challenge" in thread title . PLEASE Have Fun and enjoy ! |

Can we use materials that are locally available, or actually indigenous to our area? For instance, I get my WRC and mahogany at Menards. Can I use it? |

How about western red cedar? It doesn't grow in Indiana, but it is American. |

After much back and forth, I'm in. Don't know if I'll have time to finish but would like to give it a shot. I'm thinking a 12-fret 000 with walnut back/sides and spruce top. I need a beater guitar to keep around the shop and this could be it. All the other guitars I get in the shop to play don't stay cause they belong to other people |
