I'm catching up posting documentation of one of the two 00's I had been working on. Both are built on Ken's KMG 00 12 fret template in the Mega-Mold. This combo has worked great for me. This one has been long in process, and I'm back to finishing it up. I'll quickly post some of the highlights of the process. Some really nicely figured Maple for the back and sides. This one will have an all Maple/Ebony theme - black and white. So a solid ebony center strip for the back. Cutting brace stock Before I got my new go-bar deck built, I used Ken's simple stacked note card caul idea for gluing back braces. Shaping back braces |

Scraping the side wood to final thickness Bending sides in my home-made jig. The digitally controlled silicone heating blanket makes for great control. |

Absolutely beautiful! Just the type of instrument I wish to build. You have also taken a great interpretation of the Torch and fretboard markers! |

Thanks Pat. I'm fortunate to have a clean office for the delicate work and setups. Tonewood is stored around the corner in a climate controlled room, and all the big power tools and dust creation happens out in the wood shop... Pmaj7 wrote: Looking good Daniel! Well done.Is there any stain on that maple or is it just shellac? What is your source for the maple? Thanks for posting Ed |

Post subject: | Re: 00-12 Fret Figured Maple, Spruce and Ebony |
Thank you Ed, I didn't do any stain on this one, just shellac in a few different colors. Some of my blonde shellac gets a few drops of Vintage Amber, and I mix that in as I go. Still experimenting with shellac colors. Its closest to Stew Mac's AAAA Flamed Maple, I'm sure many other suppliers can get this maple, but I think I got this in a large purchase a few years back. I can check if I have more. |

Just beautiful! Are the instruments true replicas of the Martin OO guitars for measurements and bracing? |

Post subject: | Re: 00-12 Fret Figured Maple, Spruce and Ebony |
FlyingFred - thank you. Very close to old Martin 00 12-fret—same scale, body outline, etc. But just as many differences.I try to brace as lightly as I can get away with, each has been a little more lightly braced than the last, all 1/4". The bodies on this last Figured Maple 00 and the Ziricote 00-12 before that were slightly deeper than a historic Martin - trying to add just a little more body/low end. And then I do a bolt-on M&T. For my next builds I plan to move on to the Gore style bolt-on... Dovetails are romantic, but not nearly as friendly for long-term maintenance. |

Nice looking guitar and quite a set of pictures. The 00-12 fret is my favorite guitar, and yours is a beauty. |
