Hello all!

Now, before anyone gets the impression I'm coming to this forum to glean information on guitar repairs because I'm seeking work repairing broken guitars, fear not, I just happen to have a lot of time on my hands lately due to a work slow down, and I happen to know lot's of musicians that have broken guitars Gotta keep busy, ya know? That being said, on to the next project...

This is my brother-in-laws Sigma TB-1/N acoustic electric guitar. The neck has been broken for about a year. He showed it to me a few months ago, and although I wanted to offer to fix it then, I didn't have free time like I do now. He says he doesn't know how it got broken, nobody in the household owns up to it, but I suspect one of their large dogs got on a tear and knocked it over. When I went there for my neices birthday party, I saw it sitting in the living room and offered to fix it. And of course, he was more than happy to throw it in a case and let me take it home. Since I just repaired another friends Washburn solid body electric and it turned out so well, and I have all the stuff from that repair ready to go again, I figured "why not". But I wanted to come here for any advice again, since I don't do this as a regular thing, and it seems like there are many acoustic luthiers here that may be willing to give me some advice that may make this go smoothly. So, check out the pix and if you have any tips or tricks I would appreciate it immensely. I was just planning on getting the crack open as far as I safely could without damaging it further and working some wood glue in and clamping it. It does have a truss rod, and since this is a neck repair I was wondering if I should do anything with it before, during or after gluing/clamping.

Doggone it, I wanted this in the r&r thread instead of doc-u-build. Can a mod do that, or someone know how to do that?

You should be able to glue this one up with the proper clamps. I would use those plastic StewMac fingerboard band clamps. If you are worried that it needs more strength, rout some slots in each side of the neck across the joint and glue in some reinforcement. Then touch up the finish. Bingo! Playable again.

" I would use those plastic StewMac fingerboard band clamps"... you mean a capo? 'Cause one came in the case and when I noodled with it it seemed to cinch the break up "pretty good". I mean, I'd DEFINITELY use at least a spring/grab/cinch clamp, but my 3' bar clamp that compresses would probably be better, right?
