I've completed my first guitar, a classical, except for the finish. I want to french polish it, but I want a satin rather than a gloss finish. What is my best approach to doing that? |

maybe french polish, then go over that with 0000 steel wool? that would work, but it would be a bit self defeating. if you want a real light finish/protectant, parrafin wax is nice too, just rub it on with a hair dryer, then polish it off with a clean dry cotton rag. |

Steel wool is so 19th century. Get some fine scotchbrite, and you won't have little rusty wires all over your shop. If you MUST use wool, get brasswool. |

Years ago I restored an old hacked up SG with urethane & steel wool. I still looks great. |
