every saturady i leave at 7am for my weekly garage sales with my friend. I picked up an SS Stewart from a garage sale for 5 bucks with an unopened pack of D,Addario strings. my friend scored a nice mandolin (5 bucks) and uke (2 bucks) in excellent condition. The Guitar is a flatop acoustic with a tailpiece and no bridge built in the 30's. The Machine heads are in excellent condition specially for a guitar built in the 30's. There is a crack across the entire fret board and a small open crack on the top. The paint is chipped in some areas. I already started on my restoration. The neck was loose so i reglued it to the body with titebond and a few clamps. I started cleaning up and fixing the paint on the top and back of the guitar. I will upload photos once i get home. and hopefully get this guitar restored within the next 2 weeks. http://www.calgarc.com/?p=543 |

There are paint chips on the top back and sides of the guitar what i am using are some very expensive copic markers. I mix the colours on a piece of paper to get the right match for the guitar and use if for smaller touchups, once it dries i will apply some light finish an polish it using either olive or almod oil (natural ) some of the finish work fixed on the top of the guitar the fretboard and neck have been reglued and clamped. removed the clamps yesterday i also started sanding off some rust on the tailpiece, but i will probably get a new one and the best part of this 5 dollar beater is the head stock |
