I haunt used book stores and pick up pretty much any luthier-related books I find.
Found a copy of this one this weekend.
I've read it over and come to the conclusion that I'm not going to be building any mandolins, too many guitars already on my list.

$20 shipped. It's in decent shape, a couple stained pages, the drawings are in great shape.
Heck, put it on Ebay for $150 if you want, other folks are.

Roger's books and articles are terrific.

I used that book to build a mandolin except that the plate graduations came from Hans. The mandolin came out great.

I built my F5 from that book. The section on hand rubbed finishes in the old style is worth the price alone. I've also got Roger's book on tap tuning and have tried to understand and apply his method. Hang on to it, you may decide to build one.

Back in the 80's I ran into Roger at a NAMM show (Mel Bay booth?). I thought I'd compliment him on his books, and he said, "Which one?" I was so flabbergasted at his brusque response I didn't think to say, "All of them".
