Maybe someone here has been down this road. I'm starting a couple of tenor ukes for Christmas gifts and was looking at the Petros Ukes site. He uses a carbon fiber reinforcement rod and so I thought I would too. I saw where Stew Mac sells a rectangular shaped 18" rod for About $20 , then looked on E-Bay and saw those round ones (5mm dia.) for a little over a $1/ft. Wouldn't one of those work ? |

Probably. But most ukes have no truss rods at all, and probably don't need them. |

Rectangular 1/8" x 3/8" carbon on edge or sandwich 1/8"+ wood in center of neck full length...... many sources for carbon rods....... |

Most of the guys I know install them - most of us build tenors. Discussion on the topic here; a little dated, but still relevant. https://forum.ukuleleunderground.com/sh ... r%2C+proud |

I don't think ukuleles require a reinforcement, but I install one on tenor ukes for insurance. Rectangular shapes are much easier to route and install than a rod would be. |

I don't know of any pro builder that doesn't install a CF truss rod. Mine is 4mm x 6mm. |

I ordered a couple of 3x8mm. Thanks for the info. So far they seem to be fun to build. Also on the plus side, I'm repurposing some otherwise non useable material left over from guitar building. Seems like a plan--- build several guitars, then build a uke with left overs. |
