Grizzlies 10 inch drum sander is on sale for $618 shipped. The problem is it only sands down to a 1/4". I guess I could use a backing board when I needed to sand something thinner but that seems like a hassle. Any drum sander I should be looking at. Yes, the cost is a consideration. You might move this to the Guitar Building page for more responses. I just bought a used Performax 16/32. So far I like it a lot Ed |

They always say minimum thickness is 1/8 or more, but it seems like everyone is able to sand much thinner. I've never heard of anyone using that particular one. I had the jet 1020 and I was able to go down to less than a 1/16. The same on several larger ones. New username, same Pat Mac |

It seems like you could make a sled if you wanted to go thinner. Maybe some MDF with sandpaper glued on. would that work? |
