I am assembling a StewMac Baritone Ukulele kit. I am getting close to gluing on the top and bottom. Looking at the braces they are big and bulky and certainly do not taper to paper thin at the ends. Should I spend time thinning these out a little? Anything else I should do before gluing the top and bottom on. Thanks |

If you make them more of a triangle shape, they will be nearly as stiff but much lighter. New username, same ole Pat Mac |

Never done a baritone uke before but. . . I would profile the cross section to remove some mass as mentioned above and I would certainly work the ends down to either feather them out to nothing or thin enough to tuck under notches in the linings. If it were me, I would choose feather out to nothing. |
