Hi all, I've got a friend who owns one of my 20" baritone ukes that wants me to string it as a low G tenor. I'm figuring I'm likely to need to create a custom string set to make this work unless you folks have a go-to possibility. Am I nuts for thinking this possible? I guess I could tune it an octave lower.... Thanks |

Go to South Coast Ukes for the set you are looking for. I've added the link to the linear sets, but have a look around as well. http://southcoastukes.com/linear.htm |

Any string tension calculator will be ideal for finding the gages you need. First put in the scale length and gages you use for the baritone tuning and calculate the tensions on each string. Then put those tensions in and calculate for the new tuning and you'll get the required gages for each string. There are plenty of online string tension calculators, or you can use a spreadsheet to make the calculations offline. http://stringtensionpro.com/ https://wahiduddin.net/calc/calc_guitar_string.htm |

So I ended up finding what I was looking for at Southcoast Ukes. I looked at Aquila and could only find high G sets. I was looking for Low G with a wound 4th string which I was able to find at SCU. Thanks for the input! M |
