Hi everyone, I've been wanting to start a build along thread for a while now so here goes. This is an electric mandola that I'm building as one of my commercial instruments. The number one will be for a friend of mine. Scale length will be 15,9 inches. Mostly mahogany with a maple top, and with a nice wenge fretboard. The idea will be to have a hollow body, and try to mix a piezo with a kent armstrong magnetic pickup. Here are some pics: I'll be posting progress pic here, along with comments on the different techniques used, with lot's of CNC content What do you think? |

Nice body shape. I like your fingerboard inlays. |

Ken, that's what I call good timing Here's a small update. I'm getting the whole process going slowly, but today I got around to make the top contours. Notice the two dowel holes that will allow a perfect alignement with the mahogany back (next to be machined). And also the somewhat stone-age CNC setup... a proper t-slot table top will be soon installed. Questions or comments...fire away! |
