Wow! That's very cool. I like how you matched up the dark wood on the back and sides...Looks like its all one piece.
Sounds pretty nice too!

thanks quine for noticing it . It/s all conventional bracing .Waiting for varnish to dry on my third pineapple tenor falcate uke. There should be a link for my first falcate tenor which has D tuning , tuned DGBE like a guitar. What I love is to fingerpick that uke as it has a well balanced sound through the bass, midrange and treble. Building a 6 string , but it will be a while. I have a bit of info on falcate ukes for anyone who is interested .www.ateliertomistrings.com

Sounds nice. I like the way you incorporated the sapwood lines with the back and sides.

Thanks , bryan. FYI it/s not sapwood . I think ,not sure ?? The colours of tamarind are all over the map . The yellowy/red sides are book matched , but not from the same piece as the tback .Which again is a greyish brown/black slanted on one side with mostly reddish brown. This tamarind I believe came from Brazil. It/s a wood grown in a lot of tropical climates. If you look at other wood dealers the tamarind is spalted with grey/black/white vy interesting wood . IMHO vy good sub for EIR and way cheaper. Pores need filling.

What are the tunings for an eight-string ?

the standard tuning is GCEA the low G an C each have 1 thin string tuned 1 octave higher. The E an A just have double strings , the nut is 38mm each of the 2nd strings is 2.5mm apart. Hope all is well in winterpeg bob. I/ve built 3 pineapple tenor falcate ukes. 3rd one is ready this following week,Cheers from KC. I made the neck in a u shape tapering from abt 22mm at body to 19 at nut to account for the extra tension. The bridge is also slightly wider. bliss. The 8 string is for strumming /singing and the 6 string tenor is for fingerpicking.

Ernie:
Thanks for the tuning information. I am starting to think about eight-string for next year.

Now I am preparing for a research expedition to darkest Honolulu. If I could figure out how to do it, I would post a picture of this year's production before it is dispersed.
My present problem is building a cardboard box to protect a ukulele in my suitcase. Airlines are less than careful with luggage.

My zero-fret is 36 mm and the connection (13 fret) is 45 mm.
The weather has been cold for the last three weeks but it is warming up to -12 C (10 F) tomorrow. Where is global warming when you need it?

Yo bob,the global swarming foolish research forever $$$$ scientists are getting baled out now ,cause their stuck in uber cold weather LOL. If I were you I/d splurge and get a hardshell case in hawaii or usa or cdn. Cause IMHO they will manhandle your stuff, been there done that. If you google 8 string on youtube You will get a bunch of yahoos playing shlock 8 string ukes Some of them even sound good for the $$. It is basically( 8 string) a sing along /play chord instrument. I luv mine The top is w. grain Fir.. It/s vy cold here -2 F up to 27 F and super cold all week long.I/m envious I want to go to hawaii.
